cavani

Robert Lewandowski, another striker, who is in the most wanted list for many top clubs was expected to join the Champions League winning side, Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund, but the move is slowly fading away. Other teams such as Chelsea, and the two Manchester clubs are said to be interested in the player.

Chelsea are not willing to pay the players buy out clause of around GBP 53 million, but are ready to part ways with Fernando Torres as a player plus cash exchange deal. isco (copy)

Real Madrid has started their transfer business with Ancelotti making his first signing in the form of Isco, a Spanish player from Malaga for 30 million euros. The player had also gathered interest from some English Premier League clubs as well. This is just the start of Real Madrid’s summer transfer, with Suarez, Cavani, Bale in their radar.

Carlos Tevez who has taken a pay cut to play for Juventus will be wearing the famous number 10 jersey wore by the likes of Platini, Baggio, Del Piero etc.

Leighton Baines is one of the most wanted left back in the world and the current Everton player is wanted by the former Everton manager, David Moyes, who is the new Manchester United manager. As reported, one bid has already been rejected by Everton, but a better offer is said to be on course to reunite Baines with David Moyes.

Paulinho will be plying his trade for Tottenham Hotspur after the Brazilian opted to sign for Tottenham Hotspur for an estimated GBP 17 million.

Football transfer news: Tevez joins Juventus, Arsenal close in on Higuain,

Higuain

Carlos Tevez, the Manchester City striker has signed a three year deal with Juventus for a reportedly £10million with add ons. The Italian giants has also been linked with several other strikers like Higuain, but was deemed expensive as compared to Tevez’s asking price. The player was also linked with AC Milan, who are in the market for a striker.

Finally, Arsene Wenger seems to have broken the bank, after Higuain is said to be very close on signing a deal with Arsenal for an estimated £22million. His brother has reportedly said that Higuain is on the verge of signing for Arsenal.

There are also reports from Spanish newspaper, Merca, which claim that Luis Suarez has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid, which has angered the reds, as it is a breach of contract, if it has indeed taken place.

Manchester United is closing in on the Spanish player, Thiago Alcantara, where reports claim that United have agreed terms with the player for an estimated £5.5million-a-year, but Barcelona are also interested in acquiring the players signature.

Tottenham Hotspur is on the lookout for a well proven striker and David Villa seems to be the perfect fit, as the London club has shown interest in the Spanish striker, who might not get enough playing time after the club also brought Brazilian striker Neymar, who will play alongside Messi.

Swansea has shown interest in Liverpool midfielder, Jonjo Shelvey who might find it difficult to get playing time at Anfield with the number of signing already having taken place in Liverpool. Swansea must pay £5m to secure the deal. It could be a good move for Shelvey, as it would guarantee him more on-field time.

Pepe Reina future in doubt after Simon Mignolet’s Anfield arrival

Mignolet

Liverpool has signed the Belgian goalie, Simon Mignolet from Sunderland for GBP 9 million with few add ons. Though, this transfer may be the right way ahead for Brendan Rodgers, but what future does Pepe Reina, current Liverpool number 1 hold with Liverpool, who has been on radar of Barcelona and few other clubs.

Pepe Reina had made it clear during the time when Liverpool’s interest in Mignolet was just a rumour that he is going to stay with Liverpool even if Mignolet sign for reds and would fight for his place. To make things easier for Reina, Brendan Rodgers stated that Mignolet is only a rival to Reina as far as the number one goalie is concerned and has not signed Mignolet as a replacement for Pepe Reina. How true is this, Brendan?

But, with the signing already done, it would not be surprise if Pepe Reina decides to leave Anfield, in spite of Reina giving a number of assurances to the club that he is not going to leave the club. On the other hand, Liverpool also know how key figure is Reina to their plans, but still may consider him selling, as he is one of the highest wage earners in the club. Liverpool cannot afford to bench big wage earners in the bench. With the acquisition of Mignolet, it would be also highly unlikely that two top goalkeepers would be playing for the same side and the benched player will be happy with it. How many teams in world football have two top goalies?

Pepe Reina won the Premier league golden glove three times in his Liverpool career, but he has not been able to replicate such kind of form after Rafa Benitez left Anfield. He has struggled as well making some huge mistakes, conceding soft goals. But, in the second half of last season, Reina showed some improvement in his game and came up with brilliant saves, which reminded fans of his best days in Liverpool colours. But, he is still nowhere close to what he was in his prime days with Liverpool.

If Mignloet is under the bar next season, Liverpool will miss Reina a lot, who has been one of the most vocal players , sometimes drilling some killer passes to strikers upfront as well. When it comes to ball distribution, there is no better goalie than Reina in the Premier League along with his comfort level with the ball on his feet being a major characteristic. Mignolet may not be such a silky passer, but he is one who is very consistent under the bar, where his shot stopping ability is second to none, at which Reina also excels. Reina may be erratic at times, when he comes out to clear the ball, but Mignolet is composed in this regard and scores a point over Reina.

Mignolet may have less experience of playing in the English Premier League, as he was only signed by Sunderland two seasons ago. But, it is during his two seasons at Sunderland that he showed his class and the world began to sit up and take notice. Especially, it was his goalkeeping exploits last season, which must have prompted Liverpool to sign the goalie. But, one has to remember that there is a big difference when one represents Sunderland and Liverpool football club. There is always an air of expectations as soon as one wears that Liverpool jersey. Many players have failed to live up to that expectations, which include Charlie Adam, Andy Carroll, Robbie Keane etc. The fans expect you to be on top of the game every week. Can Mignolet handle the pressure from such a big club?

It is at this juncture, where Liverpool holding onto Reina seems logical, as he would be able to help the goalie understand the Liverpool culture and share his personal experience of dealing with such a big club. Not everyone picks this culture instantly. The sooner the better. Not everyone is Daniel Sturridge and Coutinho, who has instantly become an Anfield favourite. While some take years like Lucas did. Former Sunderland player, Jordan Henderson took some time to adjust life at the Merseyside after Kenny Dalglish signed him from Sunderland and has gradually become a hit amongst many supporters, if not all. So, if Reina decides to stay at Anfield, irrespective of he being the first goalie or not, will help the Belgian keeper grow at Anfield.

With Liverpool’s first game of the season in August 17, it is only then we would know as to who is the first choice goalie for Liverpool – Reina or Mignolet, provided Reina is not sold to other club.

Liverpool fixtures leaked??

Liverpool

In what has been reported by mirror.co.uk, the images of the Liverpool fixtures(shown above) has been leaked, but Liverpool officials does not hold true and calls it to be a photo-shopped image.

As per the image/fixture, Liverpool would start their campaign away against Hull with Fulham being their first home game of the season at Anfield. The biggest Merseyside derby is also set to be played on August 31.

But, if these images have been leaked on the official of the Liverpool football club, it could spell trouble for the English club as the Premier League and Football League are very strict while dealing with such things. Liverpool officials deem it to be false.

Who will be Real Madrid’s new manager? Ancelloti or Heynckes?

Ancelotti

After Jose Mourinho quit one of the most coveted and toughest job in world football- to manage Real Madrid, the Spanish giants has not been able to find his replacement. Though, Jose Mourinho wasted no time to get back to his club, which he loves most, Chelsea putting pen to paper for new contract. There are big names, which are doing the rounds such as Carlo Ancelotti, the present PSG manager and Jupp Heynckes, former Bayern Munich Manager.

There is no rocket science involved with Carlo Ancelotti being their prime target, who has an incredible resume of managing the top football clubs around the world namely Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea and PSG. He has managed to win league titles with all these clubs, except Juventus. He could well take on this Madrid job, as he may want to test his managerial skills at Spain as well after success in England, Italy and France.

No wonder Real Madrid considers Ancelotti to be their man, considering Real’s reputation of hiring only established managers. Florentino Perez, the re-elected President of Real Madrid will play an important role in geting the right person for the job and has dropped hints claiming Ancelotti to fit their bill.

Another manager who might take the prestigious seat at Real Madrid is Jupp Heynckes, who has just won the treble with the German club, Bayern Munich. But Heyncknes has stated that he wants to take rest before he takes up his new assignment, which does not auger well for Madrid. When such big club comes calling, even holidays are cut short and it would be no surprise, if Heyncknes also follows the same route if Madrid shows some genuine interest.

Ancelotti and Heynckes are the two most suitable person for the job not only with their ability to win trophies, but also their capability to handle the big name players, which are in great numbers at Real Madrid. One of the toughest job for them is to keep their players happy as star players may have to warm the bench. Both the said managers have handled their respective teams with star players effectively and even more so the former Bayern manager, as his team comprised of international German players.

Real Madrid must be keeping tabs over things at Swansea City as well, with the club’s dispute with their manager, Michael Laudrup’s agent. But, there are chances that some other managers might sneak through the back door as well, if Real Madrid fails to get the manager they want, which seldom happens with such a huge football institution like Real Madrid. Some outside contenders for the prestigious names may include Laurent Blanc and Zinedine Zidane.

Irrespective of the manager, Real Madrid ropes in, it is imperative for the club to get the deal done with the Transfer window set to open on July officially, where top players will be targeted.
