Football transfers: wanted strikers – Rooney, Lewandowski and Edinson Cavani

June 29, 2013

Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney’s current situation is a complex one with Manchester United,  as there are various reports claiming that he wants to leave Old Trafford. But, the new manager, David Moyes is expected to sit down and talk with him regarding the situation. He has been linked with a number of clubs, such as Barcelona, Manchester City and Arsenal, but nothing concrete seems to have come up.

Robert Lewandowski, another striker, who is in the most wanted list for many top clubs was expected to join the Champions League winning side, Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund, but the move is slowly fading away. Other teams such as Chelsea, and the two Manchester clubs are said to be interested in the player.

Edinson Cavani, the Uruguayan has also been closely linked with two clubs primarily Chelsea and Real Madrid, with the latter being a closer one. Chelsea are not willing to pay the players buy out clause of around GBP 53 million, but are ready to part ways with Fernando Torres as a player plus cash exchange deal. One sees this deal going through with Benitez, the current manager of Napoli, for which Cavani plays, being an admirer of Torres.
