Soccer friendly: Brazil Vs England

June 2, 2013

Soccer friendly

Though, the match between two football giants, England and Brazil may be drafted in as a friendly fixture, but when two such nations come head to head, the competition, drama, intensity, passion, entertainment etc is no less than any World Cup fixture. With both the nations located in different continents, we hardly get to see these football giants in the same fixture. Hence, there are many reasons to expect quality during the match scheduled to be played at Marcana stadium, Brazil later tonight.

Brazil, who are known for their flair have skilful players, who can make the English team look foolish, but they would not take the English team lightly as they have players who can change the game in a matter of seconds with their individual brilliance. There are plenty of big names, such as Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, Carrick, Joe Hart for England. Brazil also has equally impressive players such as Neymar, Alaves, Hulk just to name a few. These players have been outstanding in the club competitions last season at their respective clubs. But, it is time for them to showcase their skills at the international arena for their country.

Odds are stacked against England after their terrible performance, where they drew a lot of criticism after their draw against Republic of Ireland in their last friendly at Wembley, where  they are comfortable. But, they are going to face a difficult task when they face Brail at their home ground. But, England can take heart from their last win against Brazil early in the year, where they came up with a brilliant performance to defeat the Brazilians, 2-1. On the other hand, this might be more of a reason that the English team needs to come up with another good game against the Samba men, who might be keen on revenge after their last loss.

With Brazil playing in their home-turf, it might sound wrong, if we do not consider them as  favourite for the match with England missing two key players in the form of Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge. Injuries are part and parcel of game, so such things are not new to football. The match would also be witnessed as individual battles between Johnson and Alaves (right-back), Welbeck and Hulk (strikers), Phil Jagielka v Thiago Silva (central defenders), Frank Lampard v Oscar (midfielders). Hence, the more we look at the class players involved in the game; it calls for a beautiful game of football.

With Brazil being the host for 2014 World Cup, this match holds a great deal of importance to Roy Hodgson and his men, who are keen to impress in the 2014 World Cup. Tonight, these set of players can get a firsthand experience of playing in Brazil, which is very different from the rest of the world, especially England.
