Yusuf Pathan obstructing the field

In a rarest of the rare dismissal, Yusuf Pathan was declared out obstructing the field against Pune Warriors in IPL 2013. Yusuf Pathan, batting on 72 runs was looking great to finish off the game with KKR chasing 170 runs. But, an unfortunate dismissal put an end to his innings, which was a special knock after a long time from Pathan’s willow.

The situation occurred when Pathan was looking for a single, but Das on the non striking end was not interested for a run, so he did not respond to Pathan. Pathan was left stranded in the middle of the pitch. Hence, with the bowler Parnell close to the ball and with the run looking a huge possibility, Yusuf Pathan showed off his football skills and kicked the ball gently in the process away from Wayne Parnell, who was quite close to the ball and affect a run out.

The Pune Warriors appealed in unison and the decision was sent to the TV umpire, who rightfully adjudged him out. Replays clearly showed that Yusuf has obstructed the field by kicking the ball away, which is not expected from a cricketer.

He is also the first IPL player to be dismissed obstructing the field.
