Luis Suarez bite against Chelsea defender, Branislav Ivanovic caught the attention of everyone, in spite of his sterling performance on the pitch. He scored in the dying minutes, assisted a goal, handled the ball (led to a penalty) but it is the ‘bite’, which would be remembered more than any of his moves in Anfield. He might well be banned for a long enough time to count him out for the rest of the season.

The Uruguayan was lucky not to be penalized on the spot for his bite, as the referee could not see that incident on first sight. It was only when Branislav Ivanovic appealed to the referee that brought the situation into limelight. Later, TV replays showed what was feared the most – he was seen biting the player. Ivanovic spontaneous reaction just makes it doubly clear that it was a bite, if the video is inconclusive for any, who supports Suarez in this issue.

This is not for the first time Luis Suarez has bit an opponent. This Suarez bite incident at Anfield is second such episode in his career, as it was three years back while playing for Ajax that he bit PSV Eindhoven player Otman Bakkal. The player was banned seven games for that bite. That was his last game for Ajax, as he was signed by Liverpool before he served his suspension. With the summer transfer window coming soon, will Suarez repeat his act of changing clubs after the bite?

It is this incident, which is going to bag headlines for the coming weeks. It just seems to be a matter of time, for a harsh punishment seems to be on his way. The English media has always been showing Luis Suarez in bad light and with this incident, he has just given them another reason to show him as the villain of the beautiful game.
