blood nose Torres, misses penalty

Fernando Torres has seen it all after he started wearing the Chelsea shirt. He won the elusive Champions league medal. He has been in one of his worst goal scoring drought ever more than once. He has missed easy goals. He has scored goals without his knowledge – the ball hitting him before finding the back of the net. And this time around against Steaua Bucharest in their Europa League round of 16 encounter, he was once again the centre of attraction.

Though, there was some relief for the Spaniard striker, who scored a goal thus helping Chelsea win the game as well. It was confident Torres, who found the back of the net with ease. But apart from this there were a number of incidents, which one might find it funny, apart from Fernando Torres.

The player looked different once he score that goal. There was a spring in his stride, as there were traces of Fernando the old going past defenders. In the process, he was tripped inside the box- looked like a penalty when he fell flat on the ground. The referee did not award him a penalty and to rub salt into the wounds, he got a kick on his face from the opponent resulting in bloody Torres nose.

When it was thought, that this would be the end of Fernando Torres during the night, it was not to be. Hazard was tripped in the penalty area and a penalty was awarded, where Fernando Torres stepped up to make it a brace, but to everyone’s embarrassment, he shot the ball well over the stands, thus making it a night to forget, in spite of his goal after a long time.
