India Pakistan third ODI at Kotla – a preview

January 5, 2013

India needs to win their third ODI against Pakistan, if they are to restore any pride after their embarrassing losses in the first two ODIs. The third ODI will be played on 6 January 2013 at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, Delhi. India would be eager to finish off the series on a high, whereas Pakistan on the other hand would be eager to win the third ODI and go back to their country winning the series 3-0.

The Indian team has been inconsistent in terms of their batting performance. Only MS Dhoni has showed some resistance against the Pakistan bowlers and scored a century and a half century –both for losing cause. Other batsmen such as Kohli, Raina, Yuvraj etc have failed in their efforts to score. But, when they play the final ODI, they need to come up with good scores and help India win. India has always been a great batting side, but this series has only failed them.

On the other hand, it is the Indian bowlers who have come up with better performances than the Indian batsmen, which is rare. But, these bowlers needs to come up with another good performance in the series, if they are come any close to winning the match.

Pakistan has defeated the Indian side in all departments of the game – batting, bowling and fielding. But, it is primarily their bowlers who have made the Indian batsmen dance to the tune of the Pakistan bowlers. The Pakistan bowlers would like to come up with a repeat performance.

The series may already have been decided, but there is still lot to be played for both teams. Each and every Indo-Pak match holds a very important place in cricket history, so this one should be no different, as tension between teams, pressure is never absent and who knows, if it turns out to be one of the best India Pakistan match ever.
