Liverpool latest transfer news: Sturridge talks stall due to player’s agent

December 20, 2012

Daniel Sturridge Liverpool

Daniel Sturridge transfer to Liverpool was a done deal, only until the demands spelt out by the player’s representatives, which the club is not willing to offer. The player’s agent basically wants percentage of any sell-on fee. So, the move has come to a standstill putting a huge question mark over Sturridge’s future.

Make no mistake, Sturridge is interested in Liverpool’s move, as he is at least guaranteed a first team football, where he would play alongside Luis Suarez. But it still remains to be seen, which position would he be handed over by Brendan Rodgers. Sturridge wants to play through the middle, but it would not be surprising if he is asked to attack from the wings in the 4-3-3 formation.

Things are expected to fall in place preety soon, as negotiations are expected to shape up in the right manner between the club and the player’s agent, for both the parties, Liverpool and the player’s agent know about what lies best for the player and Liverpool. At one point or the other, they have to come to a compromise.

In spite of all this, if the deal does not materialise, then Brendan Rodgers needs to look elsewhere during th January transfer window. Players like Theo Walcott may immediately crop up on the mind of Liverpool fans, but the Walcott’s contract talk seems to be finally moving the right way ahead. So, other options for Liverpool might be Kevin Gameiro from PSG, David Villa from Barcelona, Bafetimbi Gomis from Lyon, that too if they are sold by their respective clubs and Liverpool can afford to pay these players.
