one match suspension for fifth yellow card

Liverpool came up with a great performance against Southampton to register a must needed win (1-0) after their loss to Tottenham Hotspur (2-1) in their previous EPL match. Luis Suarez was as usual at his menacing best troubling Southampton defenders right from the outset. Suarez has been a very important player for Liverpool scoring 10 goals and his absence in the next match against West Ham would be a huge loss for Liverpool, as he faces suspension for his fifth yellow card offense of the season during the Southampton game.

This is a huge headache for Brendan Rodgers, as Suarez is the first name that goes into Liverpool’s team sheet while playing in the EPL. Suarez has helped the team win many a games in the league single-handedly, so, he would look for players such as Gerrard, Shelvey, and Sterling to rise to the occasion in Suarez’s absence.

Brendan Rodgers must be worried when he thinks about Liverpool’s next clash against West Ham even after this win, as he does not have any striker in the squad capable of carrying Liverpool’s strike force. Fabio Borini, a striker signed during the summer transfer window is currently injured, so he remains unavailable. So they run out of options, as Samid Yesil is the only player capable of leading Liverpool, but Brendan Rodgers might be reluctant to play an inexperienced striker in the form of Yesil.

Hence, Rodgers might play a different formation with youngsters such as Suso, Sterling and Shelvey leading the attack. This could prove to be a lethal combination, with Gerrard supporting these youngsters in each and every opportunity. Irrespective of the team they put on the ground, Suarez would be missed by fans and his manager, Brendan Rodgers, who relies heavily on the player. While, Suarez’s absence from the match would also give Liverpool an opportunity to prove that they are not a one man team, which many suggest, so they need to win the game at any cost.

Some people love not staying out of trouble :).

    • But, Liverpool should eye this as an opportunity to try out new things against West Ham.
