Modric to wear jersey no.19 for Real Madrid, Tottenham in search for his replacement

August 28, 2012

Luka Modric was one of the players that Real Madrid had been chasing since the last summer transfer window. The deal could not take place last year, as the Tottenham Hotspur think tank felt a serious need for his services, in spite of the player’s interest in Real Madrid, which is considered to be one of the best clubs in the world. It was understood that the player would leave this summer and it did indeed happen, but not after earlier bids of Modric stood rejected by the Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy.

The player has been transferred to Real Madrid at a cost of around 44 million dollars, which is a huge sum of money. The former Tottenham midfielder is said to have agreed for a 5 year deal. So, it can be said that Modric could be playing at his peak in Real Madrid, as he is aged 26 as of  now. Luka Modric would be wearing jersey number 19 for Real Madrid.

But, after the sale of Modric, Tottenham need to find some quick alternative as they have to look for his replacement much before the transfer deadline day ends on August 31. Their new manager has already suggested some changes, but it is not going to be an easy week for the club to tempt players to their club in such a short notice, provided they already have some solutions or they are already in terms with some other players.

But, with so much of cash at Andre Villas Boas disposal, it might make things easier to lure the players. But, they do not want to be in a situation like Liverpool, when they sold their star player, Torres for a huge money and used a large chunk of it to bring in a player, Carroll, who might be transferred to some other team this season before the transfer deadline day comes to an end. It is very important for Tottenham not to splurge into the inflated transfer market just for the sake of it.

I really hope Spurs don’t sign dembele – he is so important for us and a top player. Not long left in the window, I think that things are going to heat up soon.
