Adam Johnson, if signed from Manchester City will bolster Liverpool squad

Adam Johnson to Liverpool

The 2012/2013 transfer window will be closed by the end of the month. Some teams still have not signed their prime targets. One such team has to be Liverpool, who were linked with various players around the world. But, they have only signed 3 players till date. But, before the window closes, they are looking to bring in some more players. As of now, Adam Johnson seems to be their primary target, after their failure to bring in Sahin from Real Madrid, who looks Arsenal bound.

Brendan Rodgers knows what kind of players are required to see his team progress. Adam Johnson seems to fit the bill perfectly. He is a winger who has the knack of scoring goals playing an attacking brand of football, which includes great individual skills to bamboozle defenders. But, Liverpool is not the only team eager for his signature, Tottenham and Sunderland are also ready to cash in the player, with the latter expected to give a close fight to Liverpool.

He could be a great addition to this Liverpool squad, if Brendan Rodgers manages to bring the player to Anfield. Last season, it was a disappointing performance by Downing, who currently plays for Liverpool in the wings. Johnson could be useful in the wings with his skills on the ball and his pace. He cuts into dangerous positions with his left foot and makes those threading runs, which leads to goal scoring chances.

His experience in the English Premier League would come in handy. Though, he was not able to represent Manchester City on many counts as he was normally on the bench, but no one doubts about the quality of the player . Mancini has hinted that the player can move on to other clubs, if he wishes to. If he does not leave Manchester City this season, he is only expected to warm the City’s bench with the number of quality players at their disposal. It would be a great opportunity for Johnson to join Liverpool, as he would be assured of a first team football.

One question remains to be answered, how badly does Brendan Rodgers want Johnson, as he has already brought a new winger, Assaidi. If he is ready to splurge in the market, then he is more than welcome ,as the Liverpool owners have agreed to fund for the players signature. Manchester City is expected to let the player go to a team who is willing to cough up 10 million pounds.
