Manchester City can buy Liverpool’s Agger for GBP 20 million

August 7, 2012

Daniel Agger to Manchester City

Daniel Agger was the best defender for Liverpool last season along with Skrtel. They were the best defensive pair during the EPL. Hence there are top teams , which seems to be interested in Agger’s signature. Two teams that have shown interest are Barcelona and Manchester City, with the latter already have had made two offers, only to be rejcted by Liverpool. But, Liverpool seems to be ready to sell their star defender to Manchester City, if they offer more than GBP 20 million, which the Manchester City thinktank may agree upon.

If a deal takes place, then it could be great business for Liverpool. They could use the money to bring in some major players. Liverpool are very clear , if their desired price tag is not met, he would remain in Anfield. No other team can pay such an amount like Manchester City. So, it is testing time for City to spend this money on a player who has had a injury prone career. But, last season he proved otherwise coming up with a brilliant performance in the EPL.

On the other hand, it could also prove to be a great loss for the club, as his shoes would be difficult to fill from the current crop of players. Though, there are other players in the form of Coates, Kelly, Carragher who can step into his position. The experience of Carragher seems to the favourite to land in the centre back position else Rodgers can also bring in some fresh face. But, for this the transfer has to take place.

Brendan Rodgers has sold more players than bringing in players for the new season. Kuyt, Maxi Rodriguez, Aqualini have already left the club. Is it Daniel Agger’s turn?
