Maxi Rodriguez quits Liverpool

July 13, 2012

Maxi Rodriguez, Liverpool

Maxi Rodriguez has decided to quit Liverpool and join former club Newell’s Old Boys, a club in Argentina. The new Anfield boss, Brendan Rodgers wanted the player to play for Liverpool during the upcoming season too, but he seems to have failed to convince the Argentinean player.

The 31 year old footballer was always an underrated player in the famous Liverpool jersey. He was brought into the Liverpool side, when Rafael Benitez was at the helm of managerial affairs. He was not a regular starter with any of the managers he played under namely, Benitez, Hodson and Dalglish. Still, he managed to score 17 goals in 73 matches, which is not a bad record.

Liverpool fans are always going to miss him for he had the knack of scoring important goals, when he came from the bench. He is the second player to exit Liverpool after Rodgers took over. Dirk Kuyt quit last month. He joined Feynoord.
