Serena Williams wins her fifth Wimbledon and 14th Grand Slam title

July 7, 2012

Serena Williams, Wimbledon champion, fifth Wimbledon title

Serena Williams looked in great form as she won her fifth Wimbledon title. She shrugged off her Wimbledon finals opponent, Agnieszka Radwanska in three sets, where the score read 6-1, 5-7, and 6-2. The Polish girl gave it her best, but her best was not better in front of the former World number 1, who was eager to win the title right from the outset.

The US girl showed her class with a comprehensive win displaying her brutal strength. She proved to the outside world, why she is known as one of the strongest players in the WTA circuit. Her ground strokes from the base line destroyed the Polish girl, inspite of her efforts. She won the second set, but it was not enough to scare her opponent away.

It is Serena’s fifth Wimbledon title. She has showed that age does not come into consideration, if the passion for the game still runs deep inside one’s blood. She is 31 years old now. It is her 14th Grand Slam title of her illustrious career. Serena Williams deserved to win the championship, as she only dropped three sets in the entire competition.
