Euro 2012 : Germany look strong for Portugal

June 9, 2012

Germany, Portugal, Euro 2012

Euro 2012 Group of death will start its campaign today. The four teams in action are Holland, Denmark, Germany and Portugal. It is the second game tonight between Germany and Portugal that has already been talked about as one of the matches of the competition. These two European giants are going to go full throttle in their first match of the championship, as there is no way either of the team can think of a slow start, as the group is a tough one. A small mistake here and there could be the difference between flight back home and staying at Poland/Ukraine.

On paper, Germany seems to be the favourite , but football is not played on  a sheet of paper. Still, with players such as Mario Gomez , Thomas Muller, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker, Philipp Lahm etc. It is with this bunch of players that the German team has seen greater heights in world football and they would be eager to repeat their performances of  the recent past, which has led them to be considered as a serious contender for Euro 2012 championship.

Potrugal, on the other hand may not have had the most impressive record as compared to their opponents, Germany. But, they have some great players in the world to scare the opponents away. One of the most dangerous player, C. Ronaldo has the class to make any team sweat on any wintery conditions. Will it be his day? If it is, then the Germans might be disappointed, as he can change the game with his silky moves and score goals, which he is famous for. Other players such as Merieles, Hugo Almeida needs to come raise their game while playing for the national team.

A mouth watering clash seems to await us. Both the sides will be well supported on the ground, but it is the neutral fans that could be most excited for the quality of football is going to be of top notch. There will be no dearth of high voltage drama, which the fans always look for.

Irrespective of the team that both the coaches would put on the field, it is the players who play well on the day that would turn triumphant. So, Germany needs to be careful while they are on the field to play with caution. These two sides have met thrice on previous outings at European championship and things are balanced with Germany and Portugal winning once each and the other case being a drawn game. So which result should we expect in the fourth encounter between the two sides?
