Li Na, out of French Open

China’s major hope for the French Open title, Li Na suffered a surprise defeat on the hands of the Kazakh qualifier, Yaroslava Shvedova. The match was expected to be an easy one of for the defending champion, but it was not to be. The score line said it all, 3-6, 6-2 and 6-0.

During the first set, it was all Li Na, but later on during the game, she took it easy as it seems with 41 errors in the game, which is unheard of the Chinese girl. But, may be it was her off day at the office, which was taken advantage by Yaroslava Shvedova.

One should not take anything away from the qualifier too, who has had an impressive run en route to this match. In fact, her record was better than many top ranked players, as she had not dropped a single set, which talks highly about the player. Her confidence on the court was evident by the way she tackled Li Na on the clay surface.

Other players in the French Open would fear this qualifier, as she has ousted one of the favourites from the French Open. Yaroslava Shvedova might be planning some more knock outs in the competition. Will she succeed?
