IPL 5 finals: Will CSK win their third title or KKR, their first title?

May 27, 2012

IPL 5, which started on 4th April 2012, has reached its final day today on 27th May 2012, where Kolkata Knight Riders would play Chennai Super Kings for the elusive IPL title. Kolkata Knight Riders are looking for their first IPL title, whereas Chennai Super Kings are looking ahead for their third title in a row. CSK look in good touch to clinch the title, but KKR would have something else to say. The match is not going to be easy for either side, as their players would give it their best for the last time during this edition of the IPL.

KKR looking for their first IPL title

Kolkata Knight Riders, after defeating Delhi Daredevils in the first qualifier have had a good rest ahead of the title decider. Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand has had to play consecutive matches and they might be a bit tired. But, this could prove to be positive or may be negative for CSK. Only time will tell. Kolkata Knight Riders had more time to relax and think about the finals, irrespective of their opponents. KKR deserved the rest after their great performance in the league stages and their virtual semi-finals.

Chennai Super has played some good cricket in their last two knock out fixtures against Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils. Hence, they are playing the IPL finals. Their players have looked in great shape in both the matches. Players such as D. Bravo, M. Vijay, MS Dhoni, seemed to have reserved their best game for the knock out fixtures, as seen in their previous matches. They would like to continue the same form in the finals too, but KKR seem to be a confident side under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir, who has received praises from all quarters of the game for his captaincy skills.

Kolkata Knight Riders have all the required ammunitions to win the IPL. Players such as Kallis, B. Lee, B. McCullum, Y.Pathan need to come up with their ‘A’ game in order to topple CSK from their IPL dominance. Sunil Naraine may be a trump card for KKR, who has been bowling excellently against all the teams. His mystery has still not been decoded. KKR seems to be happy after Y. Pathan came up with a match winning knock against Delhi Daredevils. Else, Pathan has failed miserably in the ongoing IPL. If he plays another such match winning knock, no one will remember his failures of the past matches, but remember him for the finals. Pathan has always been a big match player, so if he fires today, Shahrukh Khan would be the happiest Indian on the ground, as they will have a greater chance to win the IPL finals.

MS Dhoni, IPl finals, CSK,

Chennai may have a slight edge over their opponents, for they have the best record in the IPL when it comes to playing knock out matches and finals. They have been playing with more or less the same unit for the last 5 editions, so they understand each other very well, which keeps them in good stead. But, when these two teams play the finals at MA Chidambaram Stadium, the team that plays well for 3 hours will be crowned champions for IPL 5.
